Delhi Nursery admission 2021-22: Govt ponders over delaying admissions for nursery as schools ain’t reopening till July

Delhi schools are admitting students in both nursery and kindergarten because of the vacancies available in both the grades.

New Delhi: Taking into account the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Delhi government is contemplating scrapping the nursery admissions for 2021-22, alternatively suggests having two batches of nursery and KG in 2022-23.

Delhi’s Deputy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia announced that reopening the schools was not yet in the plans, during an interview with Indian Express. “Even if we start vaccinating people by February, we will be able to vaccinate a sizable chunk only by July. There is no possibility of reopening schools before that. We also have to look at how examinations will be conducted without putting teachers and students at risk.” he said

He also elaborately added that schools can start admitting students in both nursery and kindergarten due to available vacancies in both the grades.Due to this unpredictable situation, the youngest children have to be the last to go to school.

Giving a thought on the drawbacks of online classes for the young children, a senior official remarks that students who began nursery in April of this year didn’t get the chance to interact with their teachers or classmates. Besides that, the informative classes nursery and KG students have got a chance to interact and learn how to speak with fellow mates and the world that prepares them for the rest of what lies ahead.

When Jyoti Arora, principal, Mount Abu School, and member of the CBSE governing body, was questioned, she replied that the government did not discuss any sort of guidelines with them yet. Things are pretty uncertain and parents are also very concerned about pandemic situations. While the recent reports convey that Delhi schools might not reopen before July 2021, no particular dates have been officially announced yet for re-opening of the Delhi schools. But many private schools in Delhi have shared their concerns and sought partial permission to permit students of classes 10 and 12 to go to schools for clearing their doubts.
